The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar is witnessing internal turmoil as key allies express discontent over seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming state assembly elections. Typically, dissatisfaction arises when a leader feels sidelined, but in Bihar, it’s the influential leaders who are speaking up. Following Chirag Paswan’s assertive stance, Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) leader and newly appointed Rajya Sabha MP, Upendra Kushwaha, has now voiced concerns regarding seat allocation within the NDA.
Kushwaha, reflecting on the losses faced during the previous Lok Sabha elections, emphasized the need for "corrections" in the seat-sharing formula for the upcoming assembly elections. He stated that the strategy adopted during the Lok Sabha elections did not benefit his party, necessitating a change this time. His remarks have caused ripples within the NDA, where six parties, including the BJP, JD(U), LJP(R), RLJP, RLSP, and HAM, are allies. The previous election saw BJP contest 17 seats, JD(U) 16, and other smaller allies being allotted fewer seats, leading to dissatisfaction among smaller parties.
Kushwaha’s candid remarks signal a brewing dispute within the NDA. As Bihar’s political landscape becomes increasingly competitive, especially with leaders like Chirag Paswan also expressing dissatisfaction, the alliance faces growing challenges in maintaining unity ahead of the assembly elections.
