While being BJP candidates, first Hukumdev Narayan Yadav and later his son Ashok Yadav have defeated RJD and its allies several times. Although Hukumdev Narayan Yadav has never been a member of Lalu Prasad's party Rashtriya Janata Dal, his politics also started with the same socialist stream from which Lalu Yadav emerged.
