Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Chaudhary, has lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision regarding the exclusion of the creamy layer concept from the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) reservation policy. He described this move as a courageous step by the central government. On Friday, the government clarified that there is no plan to introduce the creamy layer provision in the reservation system for SCs and STs. This decision was confirmed after a cabinet meeting chaired by PM Modi, ensuring that the reservation system, as enshrined in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's Constitution, will remain intact.
Chaudhary emphasized that despite opposition efforts to create confusion and spread rumors about the dilution of reservations, the NDA government remains firmly committed to Dr. Ambedkar's Constitution. The central cabinet's unanimous decision reflects this commitment, ensuring that the provision of creamy layers in SC/ST reservations will not be implemented.
Meanwhile, Janak Ram, a minister in Bihar and the chief spokesperson for the BJP, expressed confidence in the Prime Minister's leadership, stating that the people, especially the weaker sections, trust Modi. Speaking at a press conference at the BJP state office, Ram welcomed the cabinet's decision and reiterated that the government would not allow any harm to the interests of Dalits, backward classes, and SC/ST communities.
The central government's decision to exclude the creamy layer from SC/ST reservations has been welcomed as a reaffirmation of its commitment to upholding the rights and provisions outlined in the Indian Constitution. This move is seen as a clear message of support for the marginalized communities in India.
