Regarding the Prajwal Revanna "sexual abuse" issue, Rahul writes to Siddaramaiah, saying "women bear brunt of PM's support to criminals."

Regarding the Prajwal Revanna

Despite the senior BJP leadership being made aware of the charges of sexual abuse against Prajwal Revanna, Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, claimed that the "Prime Minister campaigned and canvassed for a mass rapist".

In a letter to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congressman Rahul Gandhi demanded that "all parties responsible for these heinous crimes are brought to book" and that they "extend all possible support to victims" of the alleged sexual abuse case involving Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna. He claimed that women were "bearing the brunt" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's backing for lawbreakers, "from wrestlers in Haryana to the sisters in Manipur."

“In my two decades of public life, I have never come across a senior public representative who has constantly chosen silence in face of untold violence against women. From our wrestlers in Haryana to our sisters in Manipur, Indian women are bearing the brunt of PM’s tacit support for such criminals,” the letter said.

“Rahul Gandhi highlighted claims that “rape of our mothers and sisters warrants the strictest possible punishment.” over a period of years, the Hassan MP sexually assaulted and videotaped hundreds of women.”

“I am deeply shocked to learn that as far back as December 2023, our Home Minister Shri Amit Shah was informed by Shri G Devaraje Gowda about Prajwal Revanna’s antecedents, especially his history of sexual violence and the presence of videos filmed by the perpetrator.” In the 2023 Assembly election, Hassan BJP leader Devaraje Gowda ran an unsuccessful campaign against Prajwal's father, H D Revanna, from Holenarasipura.

Regarding the Prajwal Revanna

“What is even more shocking is that despite these gruesome allegations being brought to the notice of the senior most BJP leadership, the Prime Minister campaigned and canvassed for a mass rapist,” Rahul said, The letter claimed that Prajwal was purposefully allowed to "flee India to derail any meaningful investigation" by the Center.

The letter, dated May 3, was received the same day that a former Hassan Zilla Panchayat member filed a second FIR against Prajwal, accusing him of rape. In a kidnapping case, his father H D Revanna was also charged. The accused claimed that one of the victims shown on camera in the personal recordings had been kidnapped by the MLA's assistants.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was established to look into the claims, performed spot mahazar in H. D. Revanna's home.

Pen drives containing more than 2,900 files went viral in Hassan during the latter week of April, prompting the Holenarasipura town police to open an investigation. A 47-year-old lady had previously reported to the police that Prajwal and his father had sexually assaulted her.
