Rabri Devi Targets Nitish Kumar Over Waqf Board Bill

Political tensions flared in Bihar over the contentious Waqf Board Bill, with former Chief Minister Rabri Devi launching a scathing attack on CM Nitish Kumar. Leading the opposition’s protest in the Legislative Council, she demanded clarity on his stance, accusing him of silently supporting the bill while avoiding accountability.

Rabri Devi alleged that the bill undermines minority rights and serves as a tool for targeted oppression. RJD MLC Abdul Bari Siddiqui also criticized the bill, labeling it a calculated attack on constitutional pillars. He emphasized that the legislation aims to seize minority assets under the guise of reform.

On the other hand, BJP leaders dismissed the opposition’s concerns, calling the protests politically motivated. Party MP Nishikant Dubey proposed delaying the bill’s implementation, hinting at internal disagreements within the ruling alliance.

The Waqf Board Bill has intensified political discord in Bihar, with opposition leaders vowing to challenge it both in the Assembly and on the streets. The controversy underscores the fragile dynamics of coalition politics in the state.
