Prestige on the Line: Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav in Rupauli By-Elections

The campaign for the Rupauli assembly by-election will end this evening, after a tense fight for popularity between the NDA and Mahagathbandhan parties. The election, set for July 10, is already a source of reputation for Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav.

The Rupauli parliament district has long been a JDU stronghold, with Bima Bharti serving since 2000. Bharti, who just defected from the JDU, is competing as an RJD candidate in this by-election, nevertheless. Throughout the heated campaign, both sides traded insults and made wild claims of triumph.

“BJP MLC Naval Kishore Yadav predicted a resounding victory for the NDA and dismissed the opposition's hopes. He criticized the Grand Alliance's pompous statements, claiming that the RJD would fail to preserve its deposit. Similarly, JDU MLC Neeraj Kumar emphasized the NDA's dedication to the backward classes, drawing a contrast with the RJD's political culture.”

On the other side, RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari predicted an NDA defeat, citing Bima Bharti's support base. Tiwari refuted the BJP's assertions and advised them to zero in on internal issues.

As the campaign concludes, the Rupauli assembly by-election remains a high-stakes struggle for both the NDA and Muslim Mahagathbandhan coalitions. The results not only determines the winner of the seat but also reflects the changing.
