Prashant Kishor, the architect behind the 'Jan Suraj' movement, has launched a scathing critique of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, accusing his government of incompetence in utilizing allocated development funds. Kishor particularly highlighted the government’s failure to fully utilize the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) budget.
During a public event, Kishor pointed out that despite receiving Rs. 10,000 crores under the MGNREGA scheme, only 39% of the funds were used. He also criticized the state for underutilizing funds from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which could have built 100,000 homes but resulted in only 20,000 constructions.
Kishor further lambasted Nitish Kumar’s demand for special status for Bihar, claiming that the state’s existing resources were poorly managed. "The government surrendered Rs. 51,000 crores last year because it couldn’t spend it," he said, adding that improving governance should take precedence over special status.
In conclusion, Kishor suggested that Bihar’s development woes stem not from a lack of resources but from the state's inability to effectively manage its finances and implement projects.
