Party leaders declare that they want the chief of Bihar to lead them in the assembly elections as the chief of state joins PM Modi at an NDA meeting.
Nitish Kumar's JD(U), which is reportedly second in strength to the Telugu Desam Party within the NDA, intends to use the 12 seats it has secured to negotiate prestigious cabinet positions, such as the much-desired Railways ministry.
Hours after traveling on the same plane as Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD, Nitish attended an NDA ally meeting in the nation's capital on Thursday. “It’s just a coincidence that the two leaders were travelling to Delhi by the same flight,” JD(U) spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar told. “We’re strongly with the NDA and looking forward to a government under Narendra Modi for the third straight term.”
Sources claim that this help will not be free. Party leaders argue that the 12 seats the JD(U) managed this time are considerably more valuable than those it won in 2019, when it won 16 seats and was only given one ministerial post because the BJP was in the majority on its own.
According to sources, the BJP is targeting the ministries of Jal Shakti, Rural Development, and Railways. Agriculture and transportation are further options. "During the NDA administration, Nitish handled the ministries for transportation, agriculture, and railroads. We want our legislators to work in departments that can advance the state. In the backdrop of Bihar's water problem, which also includes issues with flooding and a declining water table, Jal Shakti is essential. A JD(U) leader added, "We may also encourage the connecting of river projects.
“The leader reasoned that increasing rural infrastructure and economy may be facilitated by the ministry of rural development. "Obviously, obtaining railways would be a source of pride for Bihar," he stated.”
Not only that, but party chiefs have stated that they would prefer Nitish to head the NDA in the assembly elections that Bihar holds the following year. They also denied rumors that there might be a quick change of leadership in the state.
More than six JD(U) MPs from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are among the front-runners for the possible ministerial positions. According to reports, the party will need to strike a compromise between granting rights to members of the "upper caste, an OBC Kushwaha, and an EBC leader."
Former national president of JD(U) and Munger MP Lalan Singh, a "upper caste heavyweight," Jhanjharpur MP Rampreet Mandal, a leader in the EBC, and Kushwaha MP Sunil Kumar from Valmiki Nagar are among those vying for the seat. Devesh Chandra Thakur, a member of the Sitamarhi assembly, and Sanjay Kumar Jha, a member of the Rajya Sabha, are other potential contenders. However, sources suggest that Lalan Singh may have an advantage due to his close association with Nitish.
