Nitish Kumar criticizes RJD candidate Bima Bharti

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has harshly criticized RJD candidate Bima Bharti's social defection. At a campaign rally in the Rupauli assembly, Kumar accused Bharti of ditching her previous party to join the RJD considering her lack of political experience.

During an election meeting in Rupauli, Kumar claimed, "She did not know how to speak, yet she was promoted, but she went to the RJD to become an MP." He went on to say that Bharti, who the JDU had earlier appointed as an MLA, left to run for Lok Sabha in Purnia on an RJD ticket, but finished third.

“Kumar, who supports NDA-backed JDU candidate Kaladhar Prasad Mandal, pondered on Bihar's status before 2005, citing challenges such as sectarian violence and a lack of infrastructure. He said that his government had made considerable advances since then. Kumar asked voters to remember the state's former hardships while highlighting the continued progress under his leadership.”

Deputy Chief Minister and BJP State President Samrat Chaudhary also spoke to the crowd, reiterating Kumar's arguments. After Bharti defected to the RJD, the Rupauli assembly seat became vacant. The by-election is scheduled for July 10, with Bharti once again running as an RJD candidate.

As the by-election approaches, the political war in Rupauli increases, with important leaders making strong allegations and counter-accusations, underscoring the importance of this election.
