Modi will meet Macron, Meloni, and Sunak outside of the G7; Maharashtra BJP will convene to discuss the disastrous election

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who departed for Italy on Thursday to attend the G7 Summit, is scheduled to take part in the outreach session.

On the fringes of the summit, PM Modi is anticipated to have separate bilateral discussions with a number of international leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

In his departure statement, PM Modi said, “I am glad that my first visit in the third consecutive term is to Italy for the G-7 Summit.”

Additionally, he stated, "The Outreach session's discussions will center on artificial intelligence, energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean. It will be an occasion to discuss important concerns for the Global South and create more synergy between the outcomes of the G20 Summit, which was held under India's Presidency, and the upcoming G7 Summit.

According to US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, PM Modi and US President Joe Biden are anticipated to meet during the summit. The hostilities in Gaza and Ukraine will probably take center stage on the summit's agenda.

Maharashtra BJP gathering

The state BJP is gathering its officials and district unit presidents in Mumbai on Friday, only days after experiencing a setback in Maharashtra during the most recent Lok Sabha elections.

The purpose of the all-day conference is to assess the BJP's polling results and determine what causes its losses. It would also assess the condition of the party's partnerships with the NCP led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Collectively, they form the Mahayuti alliance that governs the state.

“The Assembly elections in Maharashtra are scheduled for October of this year. It is anticipated that the BJP would talk about its plans and preparations for the Assembly elections at its Friday meeting.”

Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and head of the party's Mumbai unit Ashish Shelar will all be present at the meeting.

One of the major states where the BJP lost ground in the elections is Maharashtra, where its total fell from 23 to nine, as it stalled well short of the majority mark in the Lok Sabha.

Allocative portfolio of Andhra

TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu will assign portfolios to his 24 ministers, including Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan, on Friday, two days after he was sworn in as the fourth chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. On Wednesday, CM Naidu took an oath of office alongside these ministers.

The TDP, BJP, and JSP formed the NDA alliance, which defeated the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh.

The NDA won 164 seats in the 175-member Andhra Assembly election, including 135 seats held by the TDP. Three ministerial positions have been granted to the JSP, one to the BJP, and the rest to the TDP.

In addition to serving as Naidu's deputy, Kalyan is expected to occupy the positions of Environment, Forests, Panchayat Raj, and Rural Development.
