Current Arvind Kejriwal News Updates: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, filed a plea, but it was denied by the Rouse Avenue Court recently. In order to manage his acute diabetes and variable blood sugar levels, the appeal asked for permission to be directed to the jail authorities for the administration of insulin and for daily 15-minute video conference appointments.
When giving her ruling, Special Judge Kaveri Baweja stressed how critical it is to give Kejriwal the medical attention he needs. The court ordered that although the Tihar Jail administration is still in charge of his general medical care, specialized consultations will be scheduled as needed.
In the meantime, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) reports that Arvind Kejriwal, who was detained in relation to an excise scam case, regularly consumes sugary foods like mangoes and sweets even though he has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
The ED claims that this dietary decision is an intentional attempt to provide justification for requesting medical bail. The Enforcement Department (ED) asserted in court that Kejriwal consumes high-sugar foods including "aloo poori," mangoes, and sweets. Kejriwal's blood sugar swings have prompted him to ask the court for permission to see his usual physician by video conference. In response, the judge has ordered the Tihar jail administration to provide a report by the next day that includes Kejriwal's food plan.
In the meantime, Kejriwal's appeal to challenge his detention in a money-laundering case involving the purported excise policy fraud has been requested to be answered by the ED by the Supreme Court. The ED must provide its response by April 24 in order for the subject to be heard during the week of April 29. Kejriwal's appeal contesting his detention and subsequent confinement in the ED's custody had already been denied by the Delhi High Court. Police arrested AAP Student Wing volunteers who were demonstrating against Kejriwal's incarceration in reaction to the events.
Kejriwal claims Tihar provided a bogus report on his need for insulin, and the court ordered AIIMS to investigate him.
Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal stated on Monday that he has been requesting insulin on a daily basis and accused the Tihar prison administration of making a fake and misleading statement regarding his diabetes under political pressure.
In the meanwhile, the AIIMS was ordered by a local court to form a medical board to evaluate Kejriwal and establish whether or not he needed insulin to regulate his blood sugar levels. It claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener's diet plan was not the same as the home-cooked cuisine he was eating.
The ruling was issued by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja for CBI and ED cases, who turned down Kejriwal's request for a video consultation with his doctor in front of his spouse.
The chief minister said that because he was not receiving insulin while incarcerated, his blood sugar levels had risen to an "alarming" degree.
Kejriwal, who is incarcerated at Tihar, denied the jail administration's assertion that he never brought up the subject of insulin during his discussions with the physicians earlier in the day in a letter sent to the superintendent of the jail on Monday.
The AAP applauds the Delhi court's ruling to establish a medical board to investigate Chief Minister Kejriwal.
The AAP said on Monday that the Delhi court's order compelling AIIMS to form a medical board to evaluate Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is evidence that the Tihar prison lacks a diabetologist. On Monday, a Delhi court ordered the AIIMS to set up a medical board to evaluate Kejriwal and establish if he needs insulin to regulate his blood sugar levels. The court also stated that the AAP chief's diet is not aligned with the doctor's recommended plan, given the food he cooks at home.
The ruling was issued by special judge Kaveri Baweja for CBI and ED cases, who turned down Kejriwal's request for a video consultation with his doctor in front of his wife.
Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said, "Kejriwal is in Tihar jail for about 22 days. He has been saying for many days that his sugar level is increasing and there is no diabetes specialist in the jail. He has been demanding insulin. Today, the court's decision made it clear that there is no diabetes specialist in Tihar jail."
Arvind Kejriwal News: 'Despite his request for isolation, he was not getting proper medical care...', says Atishi
Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi said, "The verdict of Rouse Avenue Court proves that for the last 22 days, Arvind Kejriwal was not getting proper medical care in judicial custody in Tihar Jail. Today, after 22 days of his judicial custody, the court has ordered that a medical board of 1 specialist diabetes doctor, 1 specialist diabetologist and endocrinologist* should be formed which will take complete care of Arvind Kejriwal for getting medical treatment. So this makes it clear that despite having such severe diabetes for 22 days, despite his sugar level being above 300, despite his request for isolation, he was not getting proper medical care. So we hope that the medical board of AIIMS, which will have specialist diabetes doctors, will be found today itself, will check upon Arvind Kejriwal and will start the process of insulating him from today itself..."
