Hajipur's Global Footprint: 'Made in Bihar' Shoes March with Russian Army

Which is healthier for your skin, body lotion or body oil?

The city of Hajipur in Bihar is gaining international acclaim as its locally manufactured shoes find favor with the Russian army and European markets. Since its establishment in 2018, a local company in Hajipur has been producing safety shoes tailored for extreme conditions, such as those faced by the Russian military in Ukraine. The company's shoes are lightweight, anti-slip, and capable of withstanding temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius.

General Manager Shib Kumar Roy shared that the company's primary goal was to create local employment opportunities. Currently, 70% of the 300 employees are women, highlighting the company's commitment to community development. The company exported 1.5 million pairs of shoes last year, generating revenue of Rs 100 crore, with plans to increase exports by 50% in the coming year.

Despite the successes, Roy emphasized the need for improved infrastructure and better communication facilities to enhance business operations and attract more international buyers. The company also advocates for a dedicated training institute to equip workers with the necessary skills, ensuring a steady supply of skilled manpower.

Hajipur's emergence as a hub for high-quality footwear production is a testament to Bihar's industrial potential. With continued support and infrastructure improvements, the region can further solidify its position in the global market, providing significant employment opportunities and contributing to the state's economic growth.
