Ahead of the Jharkhand Assembly elections, the Election Commission (EC) has made it clear that the misuse of money to influence election outcomes will not be tolerated. In a meeting with central and state enforcement agencies, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar emphasized the EC’s zero-tolerance policy towards financial malpractice.
The commission reviewed preparations with 20 agencies, including the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), GST authorities, and police forces. Kumar called for a coordinated approach to prevent the illegal flow of liquor, cash, and narcotics during the election period. Additionally, the EC instructed agencies to be vigilant in preventing public harassment under the guise of election monitoring.
As the Jharkhand elections draw near, the EC’s stern warning against the use of money power signals its commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
