Election Commission Holds Crucial Meeting with Political Parties in Jharkhand

In preparation for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) held an important meeting in Ranchi with representatives from various political parties. Each party presented its concerns and recommendations for ensuring fair elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expressed apprehensions about the potential misuse of government machinery by the ruling coalition. The party called for strict measures to prevent bureaucratic interference, particularly pointing out the role of state Home Secretary Vandana Dadel. The BJP also raised concerns about illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators allegedly being added to the voter lists.

On the other hand, Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) voiced concerns over divisive speeches made by leaders from different states, urging the commission to take action against attempts to create communal tension. Both parties also recommended scheduling the elections after major festivals and proposed conducting them in fewer phases.

As Jharkhand gears up for its assembly elections, the Election Commission’s meeting with political parties underscores the various concerns and expectations, from administrative neutrality to managing communal tensions during the election period.
