In response to recent protests demanding a bridge over the Kiul River, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has announced a significant infrastructure project for the region. During his visit to Lakhisarai, Sinha revealed that the state government will construct a new bridge parallel to the existing railway bridge at an estimated cost of ₹100 crores.
The bridge, expected to be constructed by the Bihar Public Works Department, will dramatically reduce the travel distance between Chanan block and the district headquarters, from 15 kilometers to just 4 kilometers. This announcement comes a day after residents, under the banner of the Kiul River Bridge Struggle Committee, held demonstrations demanding a road bridge.
Sinha emphasized the government's commitment to fulfilling local infrastructure needs and directed officials to expedite other road projects in the region. The project has been welcomed by local leaders and is seen as a major win for the community, who have long sought this improvement.
With the Kiul River bridge project now officially announced, the region is set to see significant infrastructure development, easing travel for residents and addressing long-standing demands.
