Bridges Collapse in Jharkhand Amid Heavy Rains

In a tragic repeat of recent events in Bihar, heavy rains have caused the collapse of two bridges in Jharkhand. On Saturday, August 3, a bridge in Ranchi and another in Bokaro district were washed away.

In Ranchi, the bridge on the road to Kudu collapsed, although no injuries were reported. In Bokaro, the collapse of a bridge over the Bokaro River resulted in a villager being swept away. Eyewitnesses recounted the bridge giving way around 5:30 AM, dragging a man named Bhori Lal Prajapati into the strong current. The administration is on high alert, with Gomia police station in-charge Nityanand Bhokta warning residents about the compromised structure.

Additionally, the overflow of water over the Chilka bridge on the Bokaro River has stranded thousands and halted traffic. This route is crucial between Bokaro and Hazaribagh, prompting Bokaro DC Vijaya Yadav to order a thorough investigation and immediate response from officials.

The collapse of bridges in Jharkhand highlights severe infrastructure vulnerabilities exacerbated by heavy rains. The incidents demand prompt administrative action and long-term solutions to prevent future tragedies.
