With the Jharkhand assembly elections expected later this year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is finalizing its candidate list. The party has conducted internal surveys across all 81 constituencies, with three potential candidates selected per seat. The final decision now lies with the party’s top leadership.
However, the candidate selection process has been challenging. Reports from Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, and Palamu indicate internal clashes among party workers, with supporters of different leaders confronting each other. In Dhanbad, the tension between supporters of sitting MLA Raj Sinha and BJP leader LB Singh escalated during the voting process. Despite these conflicts, senior party observer Kislay Tiwari denied any major disruptions.
Party insiders revealed that the names of the candidates will be discussed in an upcoming meeting of the BJP’s state election committee, followed by a final review by the central leadership. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Jamshedpur on September 15, with Home Minister Amit Shah expected to kick off a state-wide campaign on September 21.
As the BJP prepares for the Jharkhand assembly elections, internal strife and candidate selection remain significant hurdles. The party's top brass will soon finalize the candidate list, while key campaign events are lined up with visits from prominent national leaders.
