Bihar Government to Provide Compensation for Flood Damages, Says Disaster Management Minister

Bihar's Water Resources and Disaster Management Minister, Santosh Kumar Suman, expressed concern over the recent floods in the state, promising that the government would provide compensation for the damages incurred by affected citizens.

Suman acknowledged the severe devastation caused by the floods, particularly in light of the unprecedented release of water from Nepal. He assured the public that the state government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is closely monitoring the situation and actively coordinating relief efforts across various departments, including health, water resources, rural works, and panchayati raj.

Currently, 35 teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are engaged in relief operations. The state is providing over 1,000 boats and setting up temporary shelters to ensure the safety and well-being of residents. Minister Suman emphasized that the government is doing everything in its power to control the situation.

The minister further announced that the government will soon provide Rs 7,000 in direct benefit transfers (DBT) to affected families. Additionally, the state is assessing damages to crops and property to ensure proper compensation.

The Bihar government is committed to mitigating the effects of the floods, with active disaster management strategies and financial relief for those impacted. Efforts are ongoing to restore normalcy and support those affected.
