Seventy migrant workers from Jharkhand, currently trapped in Malaysia, have made a desperate appeal to the Indian government and the Jharkhand state authorities for help. The workers, who have not received their salaries for the past four months, are now facing severe food shortages.
The workers, who had traveled to Malaysia in search of better employment opportunities, shared their plight through a video on social media, explaining how their situation has worsened. They were promised decent salaries, accommodation, and health insurance, but after the initial few months, their paychecks stopped. Many are now in poor health, without access to medical care, and claim to be receiving threats when they raise their concerns with the company.
Sikandar Ali, an advocate for migrant workers, has also urged both the central and state governments to intervene, emphasizing the growing number of such cases from Jharkhand due to unemployment. He highlighted the need for job creation in the state to prevent future incidents of exploitation.
As 70 migrant workers remain stranded in Malaysia, without salaries and under dire conditions, their appeal for immediate government intervention is critical. The incident underscores the broader issue of migration due to unemployment in Jharkhand and the urgent need for a solution.
