Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has launched the Bihar Heli Tourism and Air Tourism Service Scheme at a gathering in Patna. During the event, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the scheme's online booking platform, marking the official beginning of the new tourism initiative. The scheme has been introduced with the aim of promoting tourism across Bihar while making travel to major tourist destinations faster, easier, and more convenient for visitors.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said that the Bihar Heli Tourism and Air Tourism Service Scheme has been designed to encourage tourism in the state by improving connectivity between important destinations. He emphasized that easier access to tourist locations would help attract more visitors and enhance the overall travel experience. According to him, the initiative is expected to play a significant role in strengthening Bihar's tourism sector by offering a quicker and more comfortable mode of transportation.
The Chief Minister also announced that the service is being introduced as a weekly air tourism service in its initial phase. However, he stated that the government plans to expand the service in the future. Once the scheme gains momentum, the weekly operations will eventually be upgraded to a daily air tourism service, allowing tourists greater flexibility and more frequent travel options across the state.
In the first phase, the helicopter tourism service will connect Patna, Valmikinagar, Maa Mundeshwari, and Rajgir. These destinations will be linked through the new air tourism network, making it easier for tourists to travel between them within a shorter period of time. The improved air connectivity is expected to make travel more comfortable and accessible while encouraging visitors to explore multiple destinations during their trip.
To make the service more affordable, the Bihar Government will provide a subsidy of up to ₹15,422 on each ticket. The subsidy is intended to reduce travel costs for passengers and encourage more people to take advantage of the helicopter tourism service. By offering financial support on every ticket, the government aims to make air tourism accessible to a larger number of travelers.
The Bihar Heli Tourism Service will officially begin operations on July 18. During the initial rollout, helicopter services will operate on Saturdays and Sundays. As announced by the Chief Minister, the government intends to expand the frequency of operations in the future, with the long-term goal of converting the weekly service into a daily one as demand and operations grow.
