Outside the PM's residence, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi demonstrate against paper leaks.
A day after the Cockroach Janta Party-organized march to Parliament, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi led a protest to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's New Delhi home in an attempt to increase pressure on the Center.
On Tuesday afternoon, Congressmen assembled outside Kharge's home at 10, Rajaji Marg under the leadership of the Gandhi siblings and the Congress president. They then marched to the PM's home at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, which is slightly more than a kilometer away.
Police and the Rapid Action Force lathicharged and tear-gassed demonstrators, who were primarily students and young people, during the Cockroach Janta Party's march to Parliament on Monday. A number of persons were hurt and left bleeding following the security forces' response, according to the CJP, which is calling for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to quit over NEET and other paper leaks.
Conversely, the Delhi Police claimed that the demonstrators engaged in "large-scale violence," vandalized police cars, and attacked staff with stones. They also accused the demonstrators of acting in "unruly, aggressive, and violent behavior." According to the force, 118 police officers—including senior officers—were hurt.
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, claimed on X on Tuesday that the purpose of the Congress demonstration was to hold the government responsible for the "brutality" inflicted upon the demonstrators. He went beyond the CJP and called for the resignations of Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Modi.
"We marched to PM Modi's residence to demand an explanation for yesterday's atrocities on innocent students. The government refuses to accept any responsibility or engage in a discussion about it in Parliament. He wrote, "PM and HM must step down for ruining India's youth's future."
