Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the new phrase "We will do it" on Wednesday in an attempt to revitalize the nation's growth aspirations. The enormous throng at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi loudly responded with "we will do it" each time Modi set five lofty goals for the people in honor of his 25 years in office.
Modi took the oath of office as Gujarat's first chief minister 25 years ago. He became the 14th chief minister of the state after taking the oath of office on October 7, 2001, replacing Keshubhai Patel.
On Wednesday, Modi transformed the day that the BJP and his supporters were celebrating into a time when the nation needed to make a new commitment.
"At this point in my journey, I humbly salute each and every volunteer and coworker. Friends, this is more than just a day to cherish memories. It is a day to reaffirm that commitment, to articulate that desire that says, "We will do it," and to infuse our resolve with fresh vigor. We'll carry it out. We'll carry it out. "We'll do it," Modi declared.
Modi outlined the big five and a number of objectives, such as turning India into a developed country by 2047. Modi highlighted the five objectives, excluding Viksit Bharat in 2047. "Top three economy, Atmanirbhar Bharat, global manufacturing hub, hosting the Olympics, setting foot in space."
"We will do it!" was the crowd's collective response each time he shouted out the goal.
"This energy, this enthusiasm, this self-confidence is extraordinary," Modi added.
Analysts claim that the Modi government is going through one of its most difficult times at the time of the commitments and energy injection.
Dharmendra Pradhan resigned as a Union minister in July as a result of a protest movement. Returning to the streets, demonstrators are calling for Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar's resignation due to the special intense revision (SIR) of electoral registers.
The Congress-led Opposition and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) have accused the BJP of conspiring with the CEC to rig elections.
Then there are the now-retracted UGC equity norms, which have sparked protests from the general category, which is the BJP's main base of support.
Modi's passionate address will boost the party's and his followers' confidence, while the opposition and the CJP have recently been perceived as effectively expressing their views. The opposition held a sit-in outside the Election Commission of India office in New Delhi on Tuesday, while the CJP organized a large protest over the weekend in Mumbai.
MODI'S FIVE PRIMARY GOALS FOR INDIANS
Modi's five major goals on Wednesday, which have to do with India's economy, self-sufficiency, manufacturing, a manned space mission, and hosting the Olympic Games, may divert some attention from the government's policies and objectives.
The world's fastest-growing major economy is that of India. When Modi became prime minister in 2014, India's economy ranked tenth, but it is now the sixth largest.
The COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and the Middle East conflict have made the past three years difficult for leaders worldwide. Energy routes and the global supply chain have been interrupted by the two wars.
Compared to many rising countries, India has handled the crisis better under Modi's leadership.
The canvas of India's aspirations is also discussed in the five major goals. The first is related to its economic might, which is mostly fueled by consumption; the other two are related to research and the assurance that it can host international events.
Modi wants to shift the economy's focus from consumption to production of goods and products, which is why he wants India to become the center of global manufacturing. Launched in April 2020, the NDA government's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme has proven successful in rewarding local manufacturing enterprises.
In the face of a global crisis, Modi highlights India's resilience.India's economy would be affected whenever a crisis occurred [in the past]. These days, when a crisis arises, people talk about how strong India is. The resilience of India is emphasized. Friends, policy paralysis was discussed back then, and reforms are discussed now. Ways to boost imports were sought for back then, and new export records are being set now," Modi stated.
A veiled jab at the Congress, the main opposition party, and the UPA 2 government from 2009 to 2014 was made by mentioning policy gridlock. These days, we are the ones who shape our own fate. Therefore, pursuing modest objectives would be an injustice to Mother India. Pursuing simple objectives would be an injustice to the potential of the country. We should set ambitious goals as a country now," Modi declared.
Atmanirbhar Bharat's objectives are in line with those of lowering imports and making India a global center for manufacturing.
According to sources, India's trade deficit decreased from $11.62 billion in August 2025 to $9.41 billion in August 2026.
Making India a developed nation by 2047 is the goal of every goal Modi outlined on the occasion of his 25 years as the head of several governments (in Gujarat and at the federal level). The goal of the "we will do it" motto is to revitalize a self-assured nation in need of encouragement.
