His cabinet colleague Rajiv Ranjan Singh announced on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Bihar later this month to attend a celebration of "Panchayati Raj Day." The JD(U) politician, who is in charge of Panchayati Raj, was speaking to media at the state BJP headquarters after Bihar's NDA leaders met to discuss plans for the PM's April 24 travel.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also spoke at the meeting. He traveled specifically for the event and engaged in a video chat with representatives from Madhubani, the district in north Bihar where PM Modi is expected to visit.
Singh, whose real name is Lalan Singh, declared that the PM's Madhubani excursion on Panchayat Diwas would be legendary.
Singh flatly rejected the idea when asked if the visit was intended to convey a political message about NDA unity in advance of the next assembly elections.
"Please refrain from attempting to control your own agenda. The Munger MP yelled, "The PM will not be reading from your script."
The BJP, the JD(U), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), led by Union Minister Chirag Paswan, and three smaller partners make up the NDA in Bihar.
