A woman who allegedly made offensive comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a protest over the purported NEET paper leak at Delhi's Jantar Mantar last week has been the subject of a Zero FIR. On July 29, a formal complaint was filed against Ruchika Singh, the accused, at the Expressway Police Station in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The claimed event that occurred on July 23 during the rally in the nation's capital is the subject of the complaint.
Singh allegedly used foul language and made disparaging comments against the Prime Minister during the protest, according to the complaint. The complaint claimed that the remarks were meant to stir animosity and disturb public order, as well as to diminish the dignity of the Prime Minister's constitutional office. The FIR goes on to say that the alleged statements might cause societal unrest and a breach of peace.
Police filed a case under Sections 352, 353(1), and 356(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in response to the complaint.
Since the alleged crime took place inside Delhi Police's jurisdiction, the Gautam Buddh Nagar police filed a Zero FIR, which was then forwarded to Delhi's Parliament Street Police Station for additional investigation.
Regardless of territorial jurisdiction, a Zero FIR allows police to file a complaint so that it can be promptly addressed before being forwarded to the relevant police station.
Parliament Street Police Station will now carry out the investigation and take additional legal action depending on its conclusions, according to officials.
