Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), requested on Monday that Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Verma be fired and arrested for reportedly hitting a young guy while conducting a traffic inspection in Tilak Nagar.
Kejriwal claimed that the incident demonstrated why "Gen Z" did not trust Verma and charged the minister with acting improperly toward the young man who was documenting the events.
"A small youngster was slapped by the minister. Your father does not own this nation. Nobody can be slapped like this. After arriving at the location in Tilak Nagar, Kejriwal addressed media, saying, "This country belongs to 140 crore Indians."
KEJRIWAL GOES AFTER PARVESH VERMA
According to Kejriwal, Verma claimed to be Prime Minister Narendra Modi's favorite and claimed that such actions would not be tolerated.
Because of your actions, Gen Z does not trust you at all. According to Parvesh Verma, he is Modi ji's favorite. The former chief minister of Delhi stated, "I want to tell both of them that the people of the country do not accept this kind of behavior."
On Sunday, a video of Verma punching a man went viral on social media. Jarnail Singh, an AAP MLA from Tilak Nagar, was there at the scene when he manually removed parts of the freshly built road surface and questioned its quality.
When Verma allegedly slapped the young man, he was standing close by and documenting the events.
DISPUTE ABOUT THE NEWLY LAID ROAD
The Outer Ring Road segment from Janakpuri District Center Chowk to Najafgarh Drain, where the incident occurred, is being repaired by the Public Works Department (PWD).
Kejriwal claimed there was corruption in the construction process and that the road was damaged even though it had just been paved.
"Even though this road is young, it has already sustained harm. Such roads were unfamiliar to us in Delhi. We served in government for ten years as well. It is obvious that corruption occurred throughout the development of this project, and it needs to be looked into," he stated.
Kejriwal insisted that Verma be fired from his position right now and that the allegations corruption be looked into.
AAP WARNS PARVESH VERMA
In the meantime, Verma retaliated against the AAP, declaring that he would not put up with its "goons" trying to impede government operations.
"I warn you... you remember me, right?" On Monday, Verma spoke directly to Kejriwal.
"That person is not any Gen-Z. He is a goon who has a FIR registered against him for assaulting an MCD official three months back," he said, refuting the claim that the man was a member of Generation Z. The minister from Delhi stated, "He was also arrested."
In the wake of the incident, the PWD also formally complained to the Tilak Nagar police station against AAP MLA Jarnail Singh, claiming that he prevented staff from performing their job.
