In last year’s budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a series of major projects for Bihar, leading many to believe that the budget was tailored specifically for the state. From railway developments to infrastructure boosts, Bihar was at the center of attention.
Key allocations from the 2024-25 budget included:
₹8,505 crore for railway projects
₹11,500 crore for flood control initiatives
2,400 MW power plant in Pirpainti, Bhagalpur
Two new bridges over the Ganga in Buxar
World-class tourist center in Bodh Gaya
Expressways connecting Patna and Purnia
Renovation of Vishnupad Temple in Gaya
New roads linking Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Vaishali, and Darbhanga
These allocations were widely appreciated, especially with Bihar being a crucial political ally of the ruling government.
As the 2025-26 budget approaches, similar expectations are building among Bihar residents. With CM Nitish Kumar making fresh demands, it remains to be seen whether Bihar will once again receive a significant financial boost in the upcoming budget.
